Abstract
Researchers from the Urban Institute recently developed the Prison Population Forecaster (PPF) (https://apps.urban.org/features/priso...), which allows individuals to explore how user-customized policy changes might affect prison populations, racial and ethnic compositions, and budgets in 45 states and the District of Columbia. In this webinar, the presenters draw from their experience creating the PPF to:
- Provide an overview of prison population forecasting (PPF)
- Offer a list of some key considerations, inputs, and outputs relevant to
developing a forecast of prison populations, costs, and other outcomes
- Describe the methodology and statistical code used in the PPF
